Useful Equipment
Flashlight A good flashlight is a must because most places are
very dark and a good light source can come in handy. It is also advisable to carry extra batteries for whatever equipment
that you are carrying, since spirits are known to wreak havoc and drain electrical sources.
Tape Recorder In
order for you to tape and listen for paranormal sounds, voices, etc.
Notepad and Pencil For taking
notes
EMF To read electromagnetic fields, this is an absolute must piece of equipment to have at any
investigation. It will help you to detect and verify the existence of magnetic fields near you. They come in various readouts
from numeric gauge style, digital, or automatic readout ,just activation lights.
Digital Thermometer To
take air temperature readings (cold spots) associated with paranormal activity. These cold spots can range in temperatures
from 10 to 60 degrees from the surrounding temperature. You will able to track and follow these cold spots wherever they travel.
Compass Not only good for finding your way, but also picks up on paranormal activity. Ghosts are
electromagnetic in nature, and therefore effect anything electrical or magnetic, thus the compass being effected by magnetic
pulls will begin to pick up on this field and will be off about 30 degrees.
Camera Just about any
35mm camera will do. I use Kodak 600 speed or higher film to take my photos, but the Kodak ASA 400 speed will be sufficient
for just about any needs.
Infrared Scope A good visor or scope that is capable of infrared vision
will be able to pick up on ghostly activity ... I have used an infrared scope ...but a good digital camera seems to have the
same effect.
Motion Detector I have also incorporated the use of the RADIO SHACK PASSIVE INFRARED
MOTION DETECTOR (model #49-425) in my investigations. I have heard of some successes, using this model .... in picking up
anomalies.
A typical
field report should consist of the following:
1. Date - The day, date, time, etc of the investigation. 2.
Address of the investigation or name of the place. 3. Equipment used in the investigation. 4. If outside you must record
the weather conditions. (clear, cloudy, temperature etc) 5. Reason for the haunting - Sudden death or ?. 6. Details
of the site - The who, what, where, etc of the site. 7. Actions of the haunting - Flickering lights, creaking boards, doors
slamming etc. 8. Any results of your investigation
